SPC wood vinyl flooring: New Materia SPC Collection Betulla
Birch, scientific name Betulla, is a deciduous tree that produces wood with unique characteristics. This deciduous tree reaches a maximum height of 10-15 m, with a not very thick trunk and very characteristic smooth, ashy or whitish bark, which cracks and takes on a yellowish or brownish tone only at the base of the trunk. In young specimens it is darker, somewhat tinged with brown or reddish. Therefore, its appearance varies from yellowish white to pale orange-white. Fiber: straight and fine grain. It has several varieties:
- European birch (Betulla pendula): the most common, found in Europe and Asia.
- American birch (Betulla papyrifera): heavier and denser than European birch, found in North America.
- Black birch (Betula nigra): similar to the European birch, but with a darker color, found in North America.
It flowers from April to May, and ripens the fruits from July to September. Male catkins are already formed in autumn. It is usually found on the banks of rivers, streams, shores of lagoons and wet slopes, i.e. in soils with high moisture permanence, mainly in the mountains, from 800 m but can grow at much lower altitudes in the north of the peninsula. It prefers acid and loose soils and can withstand very intense cold. It is commonly found as an ornamental plant in parks and gardens.
It is usually used for : fine indoor furniture. Turned and carved furniture. Carpentry of interior cladding: friezes, moldings, baseboards. Decorative veneers and plywood.
